AvaMed Inc is a Healthcare Staffing Agency that staffs all of California State Correctional Facilities/CDCR. At the moment we are in URGENT need of a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor to take on a Full-Time assignment at the correctional facility located in Lancaster, CA


Position Details:
40 Hours per week
Location: Lancaster, CA
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00am-4:00pm
Rate: $47/hr ($1,880/week)
Status: W2 Traveler


Must be Certified by The Board of Behavioral Sciences (BBS)




The Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) shall provide services as permitted within the
scope of practice for a LPCC in accordance with institution policies and procedures. Under the
direction/supervision of the CEO/CME/Supervising Psychiatric Social Worker or designee. LPCC’s
duties/responsibilities shall include, but are not limited to the following:

a. Periodically serve on-call during scheduled workdays for patient emergencies, provide
consultation and crisis intervention services on an as-needed basis.

b. Conduct initial mental health (MH) evaluations including criminal, psychological, and substance
abuse case history to assess patient current needs and make treatment recommendations in the
initial evaluation.

c. Conduct clinically sound suicide risk evaluations, including clinical review, applying suicide risk
assessment protocols, pertinent data/chart reviews, proper documentation, and consultations as
needed.

d. Meet with patients for crisis intervention, group psychotherapy, in-person interviews, etc. The
clinician may be required to provide clinical, in-person interviews at cell fronts in inmate housing units.
In some institutions/facilities, due to physical plant layout and multi-tiered housing units, the ability
to climb stairs and walk long distances may be required.

e. Identify the relevant signs and symptoms of psychiatric disorders in order to comprehensively
assess, diagnose and manage the presenting symptoms, consults with medical personnel
regarding the findings of medical examinations and evidence of organic disturbances related to
behavior disorders, and with nursing, social work, education, custody and other staff regarding
precipitating events, complications, and potential for adjustment.

f. Write clinical reports regarding diagnoses and prognoses and develop treatment plans that reflect
the standard of practice.

g. Consult on complex cases with supervisor, treatment team members, CDCR/CCHCS
institutional health care personnel, and other divisions within the department.

h. Document all care provided to the patient, including in-person contacts and Interdisciplinary
Treatment Team (IDTT) meetings.

i. Monitor patient progress using CDCR/CCHCS MH approved documentation formatting for
progress notes.

j. Effectively apply community standard of practice for non-medical treatment modalities and ethical
standards.

k. Perform mental status exam (MSE) in-person clinical interviews.

l. Examine patient information from electronic medical record, inpatient record, custody file,
institutional chronos, probation reports, court records, and other available documents to assist in
the formulation of patient diagnosis and aid in the development of patient treatment plans.

m. Conduct health education and develop additional resources for patients.

n. Assist patients in applying for entitlement benefits community programs, and service
